Overall Best – Cuisinart DLC-8SY Pro Custom 11-Cup Food Processor

best food processor image
View On Amazon

The Cuisinart DLC-8SY Pro Custom 11-Cup Food Processor is our overall best food processor majorly for its versatility.

With this food processor, you can practically process any food. You can use it for slicing, shredding, chopping, mixing, pureeing, emulsifying, and even kneading of dough.

It eliminates the limitations we sometimes experience with most food processors, and allows you to do all the processing you desire with one appliance.

Interestingly, it performs all these functions without drilling a hole into your pocket. It, however, costs twice the price of our budget pick food processor – the Hamilton Beach (70730) Food Processor.

The Cuisinart DLC food processor sports a motor a 625 watt power rating. Honestly, it’s not the highest but it gets the job done to a very large extent.  It is able to perform the various tasks with speed, ease and consistency, in a way that gives best results.

Appearance wise, we’re fine with the white color of the review model although constant cleaning is needed to maintain it. Cuisinart also offers it in a brushed chrome silver model.

The brushed chrome silver model is a few bucks more expensive than the white – so we chose the white model instead. You should to.

  • Chopping/Dough blade
  • Stainless steel shredding/slicing disc

  • Large feeder tube allows for processing large quantities of food at once
  • Warranty – five years for the motor and three years limited warranty for the entire unit

Cons

  • Non-detachable feed tube makes cleaning somewhat difficult.
  • The two clear soft plastic sticking off the pusher feels soft and may not last long.

With respect to size, the Cuisinart food processor has an 11 cup capacity, large enough for processing large foods. The extra-large feed tube makes it easy to process your fruits and vegetables without precutting them.

For smaller foods, there is a small feed tube insert that you can use to hold it in place when processing. It also features two stainless steel slicing discs – a 2mm thin slicing disc and a 4mm medium slicing disc.

There is also a chopping blade and a spatula to make the whole process easy.

When it comes to using, the Cuisinart DLC-8SY Pro Custom 11-Cup Food Processor is simple to use. The on/off pulse paddles makes operation quite easy.

Best Small Food Processor – KitchenAid KFP0718CU 7-Cup Food Processor

View On Amazon

Are you looking for a small food processor with high performance? This is it.

The KitchenAid KFP0718CU 7-Cup Food Processor is a compact-sized kitchen food processor. Given its size, one shouldn’t expect anything super from it, however, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hold up well.

Let’s take a look at some of the features it has.

First, it is a 7 cup food processor, which means that the work bowl is just a little above average. Its compact design makes provision for in-bowl accessory storage. In addition to that, there’s a convenient cord wrap that reduces that amount of space the appliance occupies.

The innovative design provides for ease of use.

It features a one-click, twist-free bowl assembly, with a latched lid that makes it easy to set up. The work bowl is leak-resistant – this reduces the quantity of food trapped in the bowl and lid, and this makes it easy to clean.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • In-bowl accessory storage.
  • Reversible medium slicing and shredding disc.
  • 7 cup work bowl.
  • 2-in-1 feed tube on the lid
  • Low, high and pulse speed control with LED illumination.

Pros

  • The unit is compact sized yet it has ample internal food capacity of 7 cups.
  • It’s easy to use, and the controls have LED illumination – great for cooking at night.
  • Easy to clean, all the accessories are dishwasher safe.
  • Leak-resistant work bowl that traps very little foods in the bowl and lid.
  • Innovatively designed with a one-click, twist-free, bowl assembly.
  • It has a small oil drizzle opening for emulsifying sauces and dressings.

Cons

  • The motor is weak to process hard foods like carrots, raw potatoes or cheese

With respect to cleaning, it is dishwater safe except for the electrical parts.

KitchenAid offers this food processor in a variety of colors; contour silver, empire red, and matte black. The contour silver color is just fine – blends well with most kitchens.

Additionally, it has a reversible medium slicing/shredding disc and a multi-purpose blade that allows you to process a variety of foods.

You can use it for chopping, pureeing, shredding and slicing. All these are processed in the 2-in-1 feed tube on the lid.

If you have a small kitchen, you will definitely appreciate the compact size and usefulness of this KitchenAid food processor.

Budget Pick – Hamilton Beach (70730) Food Processor

Hamilton Beach food processor

Thisfood processor is our top choice for a budget food processor. It is one product that proves that quality does not necessarily need you to break the bank.

For us, one of the unique features is the bowl scraper.

Unlike most food processors that would require that you stop processing to use a spatula, the built-in bowl scraper does the job efficiently while the unit is on. With this, dislodging food from the side of the bowl is a continuous process.

Hamilton Beach offers this food processor in two different sizes, 8 and 10 cups. Both are large enough to cater for the needs of a small family. Unfortunately, they don’t have any extra color options. We’re ok with this silver color though.

The Hamilton Beach (70730) Food Processor, has different blades and reversible dish attachments. There’s the chopping blade that is basically meant for foods like meat, crackers, nuts, bread, herbs, onion, garlic, celery, and pepper.

It is also suitable for mincing or pureeing vegetables (for sauces, salad dressings, and puree soups), and for grating cheese.

And oh, there is also a slicing disc and shredding disc, and that have reversible attachments. Easy come, easy go. The discs are labeled to allow for ease of use and eliminate mistake or guesswork.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • Bowl scraper.
  • 2-speed levels, plus pulse.
  • 10 cup capacity.
  • Chopping/Mixing blade.
  • Slicing disc.
  • Shredding disc.

Pros

  • Very affordable – costs twice less than our top pick food processor.
  • The 10 cup capacity bowl is big enough to handle enough food at once and compact for easy storage.
  • The work bowl is BFA-free.
  • Bowl, lid, and blades are dishwasher safe.
  • Reversible discs are labeled and make processing easier.

Cons

  • Pulse and speed are controlled by one knob.
  • A tad more audible than some other food processors.

It is interesting how this food processor is both cheap and powerful. With a 450 watt motor, it processes different sizes of food at various speed levels. These speed levels (2) and pulse are controlled by a single knob.

There were quite a few things that we didn’t like about this Hamilton Beach food processor. It’s more audible than other food processors we’ve seen. Using this food processor for making early morning meals increases the chances of waking someone up.

Meanwhile, keeping this cheap food processor clean is quite easy. All the detachable parts (bowl, discs, and blades) are dishwasher safe, this means cleaning is easy.

The Hamilton Beach food processor is safe (BPA-Free bowl), powerful and affordable.

Best Value – Braun FP3020 12 Cup Food Processor

premium pick food processor
View On Amazon

If you’re tired of using small food processors for your large family, then this Braun 12 cup food processor is for you. There’s no telling what the 12 cup capacity will do for a family of 4 or more.

Considering the large capacity which is way beyond the 7 and 8 cup average we’ve seen so far, we expected the unit to be expensive.

Well, that’s not the case. It is, however, a tad costlier than our budget pick and small food processor combined together.

It comes with one disc each for shredding and slicing, and an ultimate kugel potatoes latkes blade. You can use it for whipping and kneading.

If you love to make citrus juice, there is a juicer for that purpose. It has a 12 cup capacity for dry ingredients, but the capacity for wet ingredients is 9 cup. To make things easier, all the accessories are dishwasher safe, thus easy to clean.

The 600 watt motor makes it a powerful tool for food preparation. It is energy efficient and consumes low power.

When the need arises, the unit can automatically peak its power at 900W. It’s pretty impressive, to say the least.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • 12 cup capacity for dry ingredients and 9 cup capacity for wet ingredients.
  • It comes with 7 different accessories including a juicer.
  • 600 Watt motor.
  • It sports some important safety features.

Pros

  • Easy to put together
  • Not as audible as the Hamilton Beach food processor we reviewed earlier.
  • At 600W, its power consumption is low although it can still peak up to 900W.
  • Easy to store because of compact design
  • Durability is a great unique selling point of this unit, the fact that it has just a year’s warranty notwithstanding.

Cons

  • It doesn’t come with a coarse slicer blade.

You can process your food at different speeds or pulse mode to get the desired result. It makes no noise and is suitable for preparing a large amount of processed foods.

The Braun food processor comes with some handy security features worth mentioning. These features are what makes the price negligible.

First, the processing bowl has to lock unto the motor base before it can close. In addition to that, the unit won’t come on if the lid is not properly closed. This protects you from getting splashed especially if you’re shredding some pepper.

If you are looking for a top of the shelf food processors that will produce desired results at a good price, then this should suit your purpose.

Best Large Food Processor – Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor

large food processor
View On Amazon

We selected this Breville food processor as our best large food processor because it offers the opportunity to process a large amount of food. With a food capacity of 16 cups, it’s only 4 cups more than the Braun food processor we reviewed above.

Whatever the size of the food you plan to process, you can conveniently do it with this food processor. But there’s a downside to owning it.

You’d have to cough out a significant amount of money, almost twice the cost of the Braun food processor and about 8 times the amount of our budget pick. That’s quite high, however, large families who own this unit will surely enjoy it.

Away from that, the Breville Sous food processor is available in three color options; stainless steel, cranberry red, and black sesame. All three colors look great.

The wide feed chute eliminates the need to pre-chop before processing fruits and vegetables. It comes with food pushers – large and small.

The small food pusher serves a dual purpose, you can use it as a measuring cup to measure or add ingredients to the processor and for pushing food in during processing.

And there’s the large food pusher that is perfect for pushing food down the feed chute.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • 16 cup capacity bowl for and a 2.5 cup small processing bowl for small amounts of food.
  • Timer with LCD display timer.
  • 5 multi-function discs and a 5.5-inch wide feed chute.
  • BPA-free parts.

Pros

  • Large – processes a large amount of food at once
  • Versatile – can be used for many processes
  • Ability to set desired time on the timer
  • All parts that come in contact with food are BPA-Free
  • Accessory box for storing accessories.
  • A handful of safety features to keep you protected.

Cons

  • Replacement parts aren’t readily available, no thanks to Breville.

Safety was considered in the design of thislarge food processor.

There is a feed chute safety system in place that prevents the motor from processing if the lid, large food pusher, and bowl are not properly locked. In addition to that, there is also a silicone seal that prevents leakage as you process large volumes of wet ingredients.

Then, it also has non-skid rubber feet that keeps the processor stable and safe. Let’s not forget to mention that the timer (with LCD display) is a useful asset. You can set the time, and go about other chores while the food processes.

Ultimately, with its size, safety measures, and versatility, Breville BFP800XL Sous Chef Food Processor stands out as the best large food processor.

We reviewed the Breville Smart Oven some time ago. You should check out that article.

Best Cuisinart Food Processor – Cuisinart DLC-2009MRY 9-Cup Red Food Processor

cusisnart food processor red
View On Amazon

The Cuisinart brand is a household brand, known for quality, performance, and ease of use of their kitchen appliances. This Cuisinart DLC-2009MRY 9-Cup Red Food Processor maintains that tradition.

It looks much like our overall best food processor but it slightly differs in function. This Cuisinart food processor is powerful, efficient and easy to use in addition to its durability.

Unlike theCuisinart 11 cup food processor we reviewed at the beginning of the article, this top one has a 9 cup capacity. That’s somewhat perfect for daily food processing tasks.

With respect to color, it is available in only two different color options; brushed stainless, and red. We prefer the red to the brushed stainless as it adds a little bit of contrast to the kitchen countertop.

The fact that it offers a large enough space for processing food doesn’t mean the unit isn’t compact – in fact, it will fit into small spaces on your kitchen countertop. The motor is a powerful 600 watt motor that consistently processes food, to give you the desired result.

This appliance is easy to operate. With the on, off and pulse button, you take charge of the process to get the best result from every cooking experience.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

More so, it is a multi-tasking appliance.

You can chop, emulsify, knead, mix, puree, slice, and shred with so much ease and speed that makes food preparation less cumbersome.

Plus, all the removable parts are dishwasher safe, so cleaning is quite easy. However, you will have to be careful with the plastic locking mechanism because it breaks off easily.

In addition to all the above, the Cuisinart DLC-2009MRY 9-Cup Red Food Processor is a beautiful addition to every kitchen. It will add a touch of elegance and style to your kitchen.

Best Mini Food Processor – Cuisinart FP-8 Elemental 8-Cup Food Processor

View On Amazon

Last, but not the least is the Cuisinart FP8 food processor.

This is another compact, yet useful food mixer that performs just about any food processing task. Though small in size (8 cup capacity), this food processor chops, slices, shreds, purees and performs other functions with ease.

However, we are a bit concerned with the 350W motor. It’s on the low end of the line when compared with the 400W on food processors of the same class. That notwithstanding, the motor works just fine.

With the medium to fine reversible shredding and slicing discs, you can carry out food prep for your favorite recipe in a jiffy. The shredding and slicing discs have a smoothness range from medium to fine.

You can easily control its operation by using the rubberized touchpad controls. These controls – the high, low, off and pulse, makes operation very convenient.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • Integrated feed tube for adding ingredients
  • Wide-mouth feed tube
  • Reversible shredding and slicing discs with smoothness range medium to fine.
  • 8 cup capacity.
  • Easy to use control knobs.

Pros

  • Easy to use with rubberized control buttons.
  • Beautiful design.
  • Safety measures in place.
  • All removable parts are dishwasher safe.
  • BPA-Free.

Cons

  • A little more audible than some other food processors.

The buttons are clearly marked on this model. This ensures that you won’t have any issues controlling the unit when it is in use. Furthermore, its size makes it suitable for small kitchens and countertops. It is therefore easy to store.

Cleaning the unit after use won’t be a problem. Most of the parts are dishwasher safe. You should also take time to wipe the non-electrical parts with a clean wet towel dipped in soapy water.

We did notice that the food processor doesn’t stay in one place when it’s in use. A better rubberized feet will solve the issue.

If what you need is a simple, yet efficient food processor for your home, this Cuisinart processor can work the magic.

Buying Guide: Best Food Processor

There’s no telling that it must be hard for you to pick one of the products above given the different brands and sizes.

No matter your budget, you can always find a food processor that fits it. However, don’t compromise quality for price when buying a food processor.

Here are a few tips to consider when buying the food processors.

Brand

From experience, when buying a kitchen or any appliance for your home, it’s always best to shop for reputable brands. Certainly, having reviewed countless home and kitchen appliance, this statement still remains true.

But it is also important to bear in mind that the brand names come with high price tags. For instance, the Philips air fryer we reviewed not long ago cost more than the others because of the brand name.

Size

Unless you want to lose the space in your kitchen, you should consider your kitchen space before picking a kitchen food processor.

You need to know the height of your cabinet in order not to climb a chair to use the feeding tube. Furthermore, you should also consider the amount of food that you will need to process.

Food processors are best kept somewhere handy for easy access especially if you need to process food frequently.

Generally, if you process small batches of food on a regular basis, you can buy two processors.

First, buy a mini food mixer to handle smaller quantities of ingredients. Small models are easy to move around, clean and store. They are designed for little tasks like making a cup of pesto or dressing, chopping one onion or nut.

Secondly, you can buy a large food processor to handle grinding and mixing when cooking for a larger group of people.

Large size food processors can handle multiple batches of dough, slicing and grating because of their bowl size. Which makes grinding easier, saves time and energy spent in the kitchen.

Let us not also fail to mention that the size of your family can also influence the unit you end up buying.

For families of 4 and above, a 10-cup food processor will do. On the other hand, a 16 cup food processor will be an overkill for a family of 3 except they process food morning, afternoon, and night.

Cost

The prices of food processors vary greatly. As we mentioned earlier, one factor that can influence the cost of a food processor is brand name

Obviously, the price of your food processor determines the value you will get. Surely, having a sizeable budget allows you to consider a wide range of the food processors.

High prices do not always mean better performance. So, it’s best you buy a $50 food mixer that gets the job done than try to break the bank.

Bowl Size

When it comes to getting maximum value from your food processor, it all boils down to the bowl size of your food mixer.

Admittedly, large-capacity bowl means more space and bigger batches of food to process. To ensure your need is met, some models come with a mini bowl.

This special bowl sits inside the main bowl with its own blade and is used to process a small amount of food. Hence, when choosing a food processor for processed foods, pick the bowl size that works for you.

Power

Evidently, power is one of the first things you need to consider when buying a food processor.

The power of the food processor to a large extent determines the amount of slicing, blending and mixing that gets done.

Now, when considering the power of a food processor, there are two things you need to look out for – blade performance and motor strength.  Pick a unit that has a motor rating from 350W and above.

Some food processor models with a weak motor, seize up while processing heavy food. They easily wear out with regular use and tend to make annoying sounds when processing your food.

Another thing that affects the power of a cheap food processor is its blade performance.

Blades carry out the primary job of slicing and are sharp enough to slice and grind nuts, bread crumbs and other dry ingredients.

Food processorscome with different blade size for slicing bigger chunks of food or for finer cutting. Now, the blades of some food processors become blunt while others don’t.

However, you need to buy a food mixer that comes with blades and grating disks that remain sharp after years of use. These blades not only slice and grind but also soft and mix ingredients and liquids.

Additional Functions

Food processors come with additional functions. The pulse buttons, for instance, gives you the chance to change the granularity of the food you chop.

Additionally, some models come with extra blades for a more effective shredding and grating – consider this when picking a model.

However, you can buy a model that allows you to adjust the thickness, width and shape of the food you grate or slice.

If you are thinking of buying a mini model and a large model, there is no need for that. Just search for a model with an additional function that offers you a mini chop and a full-sized food processor in one.

Feeding Mechanism

Food processors come with feed tubes for inserting foods for chopping, dicing, slicing, pureeing and kneading.

These feed tubes are adjustable and come in different sizes which allow you to easily add large ingredients to the spinning blade.

Nonetheless, some models of food mixers offer feeding mechanisms that allow you to add liquids to your food processor while it process. This is a huge plus and gives your food a smooth finish.

Stability/Safety

Assuredly, when buying electronic appliances for your kitchen or home you need to put safety first.

Go for food processors with strong motors anchored to a solid base which allow them to mix dough perfectly. On the other hand, you can pick smaller models fitted with suction cups which keeps them in place while processing food.

Also, many food processors have safety locking mechanisms placed in the lid. This prevents the machine from running if the blade is exposed to prevent accidents.

Lastly, ensure the food processor you plan to buy has gaskets in the bowl which keep ingredients from splashing or leaking on your counter.

Warranty

Granted, when it comes to buying electrical appliances, you need to choose a brand with a decent warranty. Consider the deal for the replacement of the accessories and parts of your food processor.

Now, most food processors come with warranties of up to three years and a cover for the motor for as long as five years.

Storage Capacity

Somefood processorscome with a lot of parts which you need to disassemble after use. When you add all this part and all the extra accessories, it gives you a lot of bits.

You to need to store these bits properly for your safety and to do that you need an extra storage compartment. Trust me, planning for the storage space of your food processor saves you a lot of stress.

To prevent wasting valuable cooking time searching for missing food processor parts, make storage provision for your food processor. Some models take this task off your shoulders by shipping in an effective storage box.

Easy to Clean

Food processors get the job done without complaint, but not all top food processors are easy to clean. If you have a dishwasher, you might want to consider a food processor that is dishwasher safe.

Nevertheless, if you don’t have a dishwasher you can clean a food processor with a spatula.

Cooking Tasks

Which tasks would you like to complete with the top food processor? Undoubtedly, defining your cooking tasks would help you choose the right food processor for you.

Ease of Use

Surely, we all buy kitchen appliances to make cooking fun. To get the best from your food processor, consider its ease of use. Clear controls, simple assembly, easy cleaning and lid/bowl locking mechanism make food processors easy to use.

Easy Assembly

For top food processors to work properly, you must align all the parts correctly. Setting up a food processor can be confusing which is why you have the user manual to guide you.

Quiet Operation

The best food processorhas an excellent or good rating for quietness when operated. Though mini food processors are louder, they should not be deafening. Once you carry out your research right, you will know how to buy a quiet food processor.
