Overall Best – Mealthy MultiPot 9-in-1 Pressure Cooker

Best pressure cooker mealthy pot image
View On Amazon

We picked the Mealthy Multipot 9-in-1 pressure cooker as the best pressure cooker because of q great feature that allows you to dual cook. This time saving innovation is essential in the kitchen.

The Mealthy MultiPot 9-in-1 Pressure Cooker seems to be yet another answer to a de-cluttered kitchen. As you’d expect, it sports multiple functions that make cooking easy.

Whether it is baking, pasteurizing, steaming or slow cooking, that you want, the Mealthy Multipot 9-in-1 will ensure that the task is done for you, making it one of the best small pressure cookers in the market.

Mealthy offers this pressure cooker in only 2 sizes; 6-quart and 8-quart. The 6 quart pressure cooker is one of the best pressure cookers for small families. It has 9 cooking options that you can select with the help of an easy-touch control panel.

It comes with 14 preset programs and is also equipped with a customizable preset. The preset keeps record of your last selection making it easier to use the cooker the next time.

You could also manually set it to be used as a regular pressure cooker. The icons are clearly displayed on the LCD panel.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • Easy touch responsive control panel.
  • 14 preset cooking programs.
  • 9 different cooking options.
  • Raised steam rack for steaming and cooking at the same time.
  • Thousands of recipes available on the mobile app tied to this unit

Pros

  • Handling and using the pressure cooker is fairly simple to do.
  • The pressure cooker comes with many add-ons like an extra silicone gasket, silicone mitts, rice paddle, a measuring cup, pot holders and of course the steaming apparatus.
  • There’s a mobile app which is compatible with Android and iOS devices. It features thousands of recipes and step-by-step videos for the Mealthy appliance.
  • The cooking progress indicator will update you on the status of what’s being prepared whether preheating, cooking etc.

Cons

  • The Interior is somewhat sticky.
  • It scratches easily

The main cooking pot which is made of sturdy stainless steel is perfect for preparing yogurt, cooking chili or even baking a cake. A 6-quart stainless steel pot and a stainless steel steamer basket are also included with this cooker.

This makes it possible for you to cook two dishes at the same time.

While the main dish of the cooker is occupied with whatever you’ve prepared, you could steam dumplings or vegetables in the steamer at the same time. A 4cm raised steam rack prevents food from mixing with the liquid.

An extra wide steam vent handle prevents accidents as it keeps hands away from the steam release. Also, the bright red float at the top will pop up to alert you when the maximum pressure has been reached.

There’s a mobile app available on Android and iOS which contains recipes for cooking several dishes on the cooker. You can’t control the cooker with the app, however, we believe that a Wi-Fi enabled model will be available soon.

Budget Pick – Instant Pot LUX80 6-in-1 Pressure Cooker

best cheap pressure cooker
View On Amazon

Pressure cookers from Instant Pot are extremely popular as they are efficient and easy to use although all their models may not fit your budget.

Therefore, if you’re looking for an efficient pressure cooker at a great price, the Instant Pot LUX80 cooker is definitely what you need.

The LUX80 is aesthetically appealing with its stainless steel finishing and black accents on the handles and control panel. We like the finishing – it’s somewhat smudge resistant.

It’s not the cheapest pressure cooker, but it definitely is a budget unit.

While the price is lower than the DUO60 – an older sibling, the LUX80 does not compromise on efficiency and effectiveness. Like the name suggests, the Instant Pot Lux80 6-in1 Pressure Cooker will help you trim save on many appliances.

You can use it as a regular pressure cooker or a slow cooker. It can serve as a pressure cooker, rice cooker, slow cooker, warmer, steamer, and can also be used to sauté.

Simply put, you can cook rice, sauté, and steam, warm your food or even bake a cake. The 12 smart built in programs are a simple touch away, making cooking so much easier.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Like

  • A 24 hour delay start timer.
  • Warmer with 10 hours capability.
  • Cooking pot, lid and steam rack are dishwasher safe.
  • Adjustable temperature settings for sautéing and slow cooking.
  • High pressure reduces cooking time by about 70%.
  • Stainless steel smudge resistant finishing.

Pros

  • User manual makes operating the pressure cooker easy.
  • Excellent for cooking a variety of meals.
  • It comes with a complete set of accessories such as steam rack, rice paddle, measuring cup and soup spoon. Cooking time tables and recipes are also a part of the package.

Cons

  • Cannot be used to prepare yogurt
  • Can only be used for high pressure cooking

Like most manufacturers, Instant Pot offers this unit in three size options. There’s the 3-quart, 6-quart, and the 8-quart model under review. All three look almost the same save for the difference in size.

Whether it’s a cheesecake, banana bread or eggs that you want to boil, the cooker will take you through the process without you breaking your head. All you need to do is to press a button and you’re good to go.

Other features which make this one of the best rated pressure cookers are the 10 safety mechanisms. They help to get rid of any problems that may arise when cooking.

The high-quality material and the 3rd generation microprocessor which controls programs, make this cooker extremely useful and safe.

Best Rated Pressure Cooker – Instant Pot DUO80 6 Qt Pressure Cooker

Instant Pot Cooker DU80
View On Amazon

The Instant Pot DUO 80 is one of the best budget-friendly pressure cookers to own.

Although it misses some of the extra features of the higher end Instant Pot Ultra model pressure cooker, it still offers great value without compromising on quality.

The highly durable pressure cooker has multi-functional options which make cooking a lot simpler. It has a 7-in-1 function, one function more than the Instant Pot LUX80 cooker we reviewed above.

With respect to usage, the DUO80 is easy to use. It features 14 preset options that start cooking your food immediately you press any of them.

There’s a 7-in-1 function will help you get rid of 7 of your other kitchen appliances as it’s a pressure cooker, warmer, rice cooker, yogurt maker, steamer, sauté, and slow cooker, all in one. Now, that’s a money saver.

The user-friendly control panel is easy to use. If you choose to use this as a regular pressure cooker you probably won’t require the buttons as you’ll need to use the manual setting.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • Dual pressure cooking option.
  • 7-in-1 function.
  • User friendly control panel.
  • Low pressure option.
  • Can be used to make yoghurt.
  • 14 preset cooking options.

Pros

  • Automatic keep warm function keeps food warm for up to 10 hours while the manual keep-warm function can keep food warm for much longer.
  • Extremely user-friendly.
  • Manual temperature controls for convenience.
  • 14 preset programs to choose from makes it possible to cook without remembering all settings.
  • Dual pressure settings for high or low pressure.

Cons

  • Less high-tech than other Instant Pot models
  • Interior is a bit sticky but won’t pose any problems.

The cooker has a dual pressure option. To cook foods up to 2-6 times faster, the high-pressure option is good but for some delicate food, you may want to try the low-pressure option so that you don’t overcook the food.

A built in microprocessor keeps a check on pressure, temperature, time and also automatically adjusts the heat intensity depending on the preset you choose.

There are also adjustable temperature settings for sautéing and slow cooking.

The hefty stainless steel inner pot and 3-ply bottom add to the durability of the cooker and also help in uniform heating throughout the pot. We like the fact that the removal pot, lid and steam rack are dishwasher safe.

Safety is a priority on this unit. It has 10 safety mechanisms.

Best Value – Instant Pot Ultra 8 Qt. Pressure Cooker

Instant Pot Ultra 8 Qt. Pressure Cooker image
View On Amazon

If you’re looking for a top rated pressure cooker, the Instant Pot Ultra 8 Qt. Pressure Cooker is your answer.

The larger 8 qt. size of the cooking vessel is ideal for bigger families with 6 or more members. It’s also great for home chefs looking for better control over meals and cooking time.

There are many new features to this higher model cooker such as altitude adjustment, cooking indicator and a steam release reset button which contribute towards making this a fully loaded model and another best pressure cooker to invest in.

The 10-in-1 multi-use programmable pressure cooker comes in 3 different sizes of 3, 6, and 8 quarts. In addition to that, it has 16 built in programs using microprocessor technology.

Apart from the regular features of a multi-functional cooker such as slow cooking, rice cooker, sauté/searing, and cake making to name a few, a unique feature of this cooker is the Ultra program.

With the Ultra Program, you can customize the temperature by setting exact parameters for pressure and non-pressure cooking.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • 10-in-1 function. 8 quart capacity.
  • 16 built-in programs for easy cooking.
  • Cooking indicator.
  • Steam reset button.
  • Ultra program which allows you customize other programs.

Pros

  • The LCD display is much better than any of the other Instant Pot models.
  • It has a better aesthetic appeal than the other Instant Pot models
  • The cooking indicator is a great feature for keeping track of the stage of your dish.
  • There is a quick release button that helps you to control the cooking pressure more effectively.
  • With the Ultra Program and the 21 temperature options you can set the exact temperature over a wide variety of temperatures required for your dishes.
  • The Altitude adjustment facility gives more precision to your cooking.

Cons

  • The manual is not very detailed and can be a little confusing to understand.

The 21 pre-set temperature options will give you the flexibility to choose the precise temperature for your recipe.

As earlier mentioned, you can exert control over it using the Ultra Feature.

The new steam release reset button on this appliance ensures safer handling when releasing steam after cooking is done.

Let’s not forget to mention the embedded microprocessor which is powerful. It keeps track of temperature, time, as well as heat intensity. In addition, it adjust the intensity and duration of the heat.

The extra settings on the LCD panel will perhaps lure amateur cooks to experiment with new dishes. On the LCD screen, you’ll find a cooking indicator which will help you keep track of your cooking.

The central dial at the bottom of the panel with a turn and press mechanism makes program selection much more precise and easier.

Without being told, the Instant Pot Ultra is probably one of the most versatile cooking gadgets that you can add to your kitchen.

Best Presto Pressure Cooker – Presto 01282 8-Quart Pressure Cooker

Presto aluminum cooker image

If you’re looking for a traditional pressure cooker with no fanfare and a little flash then the Presto line is where you should be looking. This model is an aluminum model. You can opt for the stainless steel model.

This entry level brand has some very popular stovetop pressure cookers to suit every budget. In addition to that, they’ve also got great deep fryers.

This pressure cooker is ideal for a weekend meal or even if you want to put together a meal quickly. It performs 3 to 10 times faster than ordinary cooking methods and cooks certain foods faster than a microwave.

The Presto 01282 tenderizes bigger cuts of meat very quickly and can work on any stove range.

Presto’s 8 quart will not only efficiently work the kitchen magic that pressure cookers are renowned to do but can also be used as a conventional soup pot. You can even use it for home canning.

With respect to pricing, this cooker is affordable. In fact, it is the cheapest cooker on this review list. This is primarily because it lacks most of the functions other pressure cookers on this review lost have,

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • High quality aluminum body.
  • Compact sized yet has an 8 quart capacity.
  • Heats up quickly and evenly cooks the food.
  • Comes with a cooking rack as well as a recipe book.
  • Automatic pressure regulator.

Pros

  • No fuss affordable pressure cooker.
  • Easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
  • Built to last a lifetime.
  • It has an inbuilt pressure regulator which maintains the cooking pressure inside the unit.
  • Thinking of learning new recipes? This cooker comes with a 64 page recipe book.

Cons

  • It stains easily, and cleaning the stains can be one hell of a chore without the right cleaning solution.

The heavy-duty lid shuts firmly during cooking and a pop up pressure indicator prevents the cooker from being opened until the pressure is reduced safely.

That aside, there’s also the rack which allows you to cook two things at the same time. However, we didn’t cook two things at the same time. We do believe it will live up to expectation.

A booklet with more than 65 recipes provided with the cooker will help you to experiment with different foods in the kitchen, ranging from the basic soups to pot roasts and even desserts.

The cooker is easy to clean but to maintain the shine on the exterior can be a chore although a fine metal polish on it will keep it looking good.

One of the best things about this pressure cooker is the guarantee that Presto provides with an extended 12-year limited warranty.

Best 8 Quart Pressure Cooker – SharkNinja OP4018 Qt Pressure Cooker

best 8 quart pressure cooker
View On Amazon

If you are looking for a pressure cooker and an air fryer all in one, the Shark Ninja OP401 8 Quart Pressure Cooker is worth investing in.

The Shark Ninja has a heavy price tag because it is essentially four machines in one.

It is a pressure cooker, a slow cooker, an air fryer and a dehydrator. Imagine if you had to buy all those appliances separately, they would probably cost you more than this one machine.

The pressure cooker allows you to cook meals 70% faster than the traditionally cooker.

In under 20 minutes you can pressure cook frozen meats as they will defrost and cook at the same time. The great part about this appliance is that it provides you with the option of crisping your dish before you serve it.

So once the cooking is done, you can transfer the dish to the crisping lid where you can either air fry, broil, and roast or bake it. Make sure to follow the cooking instructions to get the perfect result.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • 8 quart capacity.
  • 9-in-1 cooking functions.
  • Can be used for air frying or and dehydrating.
  • TenderCrisp technology for crispy foods.
  • Easy to use out of the box.
  • Comes with a cook and crisp basket.

Pros

  • 4 machines in one
  • User friendly which does not have a deep learning curve.
  • The digital screen helps you keep track of what is happening inside the cooker.
  • Wider cooking pot makes sautéing easier to do.
  • Comes with a detailed manual with a color cookbook.
  • Cleaning is simple and the inner pot, silicone ring, crisper rack and reversible rack can all be put into the dishwasher.

Cons

  • A fairly large appliance which takes up quite a bit of space. The pressure cooker lid requires space too as it is separate.
  •

Once your meal is cooked, the cooker will switch to keep warm. You can set this for 4-12 hours on the high setting and from 6-12 hours on the low setting.

The interface on the Ninja is extremely simplified so you won’t break your head trying to figure out how to use it. It comes with 5 built-in cooking functions and is easily customized to suit your needs.

We like that the Shark Ninja OP410 also has the option of dehydrating so making homemade snacks like kale or banana chips becomes fairly simple.

Some things did piss us off a little. First, the cooker is noticeably large. But then it comes with a pressure cooker lid that comes off too when you’re not pressure cooking. That lid requires a storage space.

In addition to that, the air fryer has a non-removable lid which we think is obstructive.

Best 10 Quart Pressure Cooker – Mueller Pressure Cooker Instant Crock 10-in-1 Pot

Mueller 10 quart 10-in-1 pressure cooker.
View On Amazon

Here’s the grandmaster of all the pressure cookers on this review list. If you’ve ever had to cut items into small pieces so they can enter your pressure cooker, worry no more.

With a 10 quart capacity, you’ll definitely not have any need to cut your food into smaller parts.

Aside from having a 10-quart capacity, it also has a 10-in-1 function. Now, that’s massive. It simply combines the work of the following appliances in your kitchen into one unit; pressure cooker, steamer, sterilizer, warmer, slow cooker, egg cooker, cake maker, sauté, yoghurt maker, and rice cooker.

But it doesn’t end there.

This Mueller pressure cooker has the highest number of programs we’ve seen so far in the course of this review. It has a total of 19 preset programs, a tad higher than the number of programs on the Instant Pot Ultra pressure cooker.

With these 19 programs, your cooking just became much easier and less hassle-free. Just the touch of a button or two and you’re good to go.

These features certainly don’t come cheap on the Mueller Pressure cooker. In fact, it costs three times more than our budget pick pressure cooker. But, in all honesty, it is certainly worth every penny you pay for it.

View Features and Pros/Cons

Features We Love

  • Comes with lots of extra items for cooking.
  • 19 preset programs.
  • Tough build quality.
  • 10 quart capacity with 10-in-1 function.
  • Easy to use and comes with responsive control buttons.

Pros

  • Its 10-in-1 function de-clutters the countertop and helps you save on some kitchen appliances.
  • Of course, the 10-quart capacity makes sure space doesn’t limit your cooking.
  • The control buttons are easy to use and they are responsive.
  • It sports 19 preset cooking programs to make cooking easier.

Cons

  • A tad pricier that the other pressure cookers in its class.

The exterior of the unit is built for toughness and it is non-magnetic. Did we mention that this is a German made product? Well, now you know.

On the side of the unit, you’ll find the control panel with its responsive touch buttons. You can do a lot of programming here at the touch of a few buttons.

With the timer buttons, you can set the cooker to delay pressure cooking your food by up to 24 hours. This feature is handy for the workaholics who can set the cooker to pressure cook their food in the evening – at a time when they’re on their way back from work.

In addition to that, you can cook two meals simultaneously, just like you can on the SharNinja Pressure Cooker above. There’s a stainless steel rack that makes this possible.

The Mueller cooker comes with some extra stuff including a 30 recipe cookbook, spoon, measuring cup, and steam rack.

Buying Guide: Best Pressure Cookers

Now that you’ve gone through the reviews of the various pressure cookers, there’s a likelihood that you’re a bit confused as to which one to settle for.

One of the most important points to consider for any cookware is the material that goes into making it. The reason for this is twofold –

  1. One because the material is an indication for how durable your product is and two,
  2. The material will also determine the ability of the product to manage its own inner temperature ranges.

Never compromise on quality because of price. If you like brand names, select a brand that is well known, as major manufacturers always use top quality materials.

Below we’ve elaborated on some tips that will serve as a guide to help ease your decision making.

Electric or Stove Top

If it’s just pressure cooking that you’re interested in, then the good old stove top is the best option as they are efficient and energy saving. We included an old stove top model in the review above.

They also heat up a lot quicker than the electric pressure cookers.

However, if you’re looking at a wider range of cooking tasks like making a cake, steaming or slow cooking, the multi-functional electric pressure cookers are your best bet.

The preset functions on these cookers make cooking a lot easier for the experts and the novice.

Size

The size of the pressure cookers depends on how many people it’s going to be used for and also the storage space that you have.

We think that the 6 quart is one of the best options for a mid-sized family. If you can afford a bigger one well and good, but make sure that you choose what suits your needs and not something that only looks great.

You should also keep in mind that a cooker should only be filled to 2-thirds at the most and only at the halfway mark for foamy food.

That being said, a bigger cooker will cook small amounts of food just as well but think of the storage space too. If you do go in for a bigger cooker, it’s always a good idea to have handles on both sides so the pot is easier to transfer from one location to another.

Cost

Pressure cookers are generally inexpensive. However, it is not surprising to see a pressure cooker that costs more than the other.

The pressure cookers we reviewed all fall within the same price range save for a few which costs twice or thrice the price of the others.

Having a sizeable budget will allow you to buy the right pressure cooker for your kitchen.

Stainless Steel

It’s always best to choose a pressure cooker that is made of high-quality durable stainless steel. While aluminum cookers may be lighter, cost less, and may even heat faster, the material tends to discolor and scratch easily.

Also, the aluminum may influence the flavor of the dish. When choosing the stainless steel model, look for the label or stamp that indicates 18/10 Stainless Steel.

It’s a mark of quality – most pressure cookers have it.

Non-Stick

We recommend avoiding a non-stick pressure cooker as the non-stick surface is not durable.

We are all well aware of the health hazards associated with non-stick cookware especially if the material has worn off. High pressure cooking could cause the non-stick material to scratch off so its best avoided.

Pressure Indicator and Quick Release

Most pressure cooker recipes indicate that the pressure cooker should reach 15psi, which is a common level that almost all pressure cookers do achieve.

However, one needs to be absolutely sure of this so when zeroing in on a model to buy, check the specifications to make sure it can reach this level.

It’s also a good idea to avoid any guesswork by looking for a cooker which has some kind of indicator for the pressure like a pop-up button or a marker.

A pressure cooker with the option of a quick release should also be taken into consideration as it will allow you to release pressure quickly if you need to add ingredients in parts when cooking certain dishes.

Dual Pressure Settings

Certain foods require low pressure when cooking them using a pressure cooker. You should consider a pressure cooker with two pressure settings above one without just one pressure setting.

Safety Features

Manufacturers of pressure cookers today ensure that their products meet the safety standards specified.

The manual that comes along with the cooker will specify the safety features of the cooker so you don’t have to worry about the pressure building up to such an extent that the cooker may explode.

Spring or Float Valves

A spring valve is a great commodity for a stove top pressure cooker as it helps reduce the annoying hissing sound that a cooker makes.

Electric pressure cookers have a float valve to perform similarly to a spring valve. However, it is not an essential part of the electric pressure cooker as the pressure level inside the pot is not controlled by it.

Handles

The handles should be strong and sturdy enough to support the weight of the contents of the cooker when you carry it. Thank goodness, most of the popular pressure cookers come with good handles.

Cooking Baskets/Racks

Some pressure cookers come with extra cooking baskets and racks which make cooking much easier. With this racks, you can cook two things in your pressure cooker at the same time.

Make sure your cooker supports dual cooking before cooking two things at the same time.

Accessories and Warranty

Choose a brand which gives you a good deal for the replacement of your pressure cooker parts and accessories, especially the gasket which most companies do not warranty.

Most reputed companies do offer generous warranties for up to 3 years or a lifetime, depending on the product, but always make sure that the product you buy has a warranty period.

Cook Books/Recipe Manual

This is definitely not a must have, but if you intend to learn how to cook new things with your pressure cooker, then you should tilt towards the models that have a recipe manual.

FAQs: Pressure Cookers

Are pressure cookers safe?

Most modern pressure cookers come with a variety of safety features and are designed in such a way that if something does go wrong, there will be minimal harm caused.

  4. You get to save on space and you’ll have a de-cluttered kitchen.

Final Words

While you’re searching for the perfect pressure cooker for the moment, you should ask yourself if the cooker will serve you well in the long run.

Most of the cookers we’ve reviewed here have an impressive long-term service record.

That’s non-stop cooking for a long time to come.
